How Reputable Are Review Sites?

I was talking to a plastic surgeon friend of mine recently who was very upset. Let me preface by saying that he is an excellent surgeon with a sterling background and well respected in the community. We were talking about how just one disgruntled person can write many bad comments on a review site and hurt that Doctors reputation.
 
Then I spoke with another surgeon, who told me the same thing. And then another.
What the public is not aware of, is that most of these damning reviews often times come from one person..an ex-wife, an ex-girlfriend who create multiple profiles and writes multiple bad reviews.
I know this is true because I have seen it happen first hand in 3 different practices.
 
In addition, there really is no forum for the physician to defend himself, leaving him vulnerable and at the mercy of the internet. Even if the violator is kicked off the review site (which happens), the information is still floating around in cyber world forever.
 
Remember to not believe everything you read. If you have doubts, or read a bad review, remember that it is not always true.
 
Better yet, don’t read review site comments, and ask your local doctor, nurse, or medical professional for the truth. 🙂
